XWidget 1.3

XWidget is a great application for customizing your Windows desktop. Once you start this application you will notice a new icon in the system tray, in the bottom right corner of your taskbar. Double clicking the icon pops up a small gray bar that displays all installed widgets. From here you can select any widget that you would like to add to your desktop.

XWidget comes with lots of predefined add-ons (widgets) such as a cool clock, a system resource monitor for your CPU, RAM, SWAP and BAT, a bar for your download and upload speed, a bar which will show your IP address, and many other interesting widgets that can ease your access to folders and to information about your Windows system. You can always download more widgets from the Internet. For example, I downloaded a widget called “CoolLight Shorcut” which added a funny pink animated penguin to my Windows desktop. This widget can be configured to act as a shortcut to any computer folder, file or application.

All the widgets let you set their opacity, position, and you can even rotate them. This application comes with its own widget designing tool that allows the user to create a widget from scratches or to bring changes to the existing ones. Another great feature I liked a lot is the Theme Manager. If there are several people that use the same computer and each one needs different widgets, the application allows saving a customized layout for each person.

Briefly, XWidget is a program that greatly improves the accessibility and the look of your desktop.
